I'm just curious - I've never understood why some people shudder and the thought of being cremated. Why is this?

  1. I guess the thought of your body being burned...Nothing being left to remember you by. Just ashes spread in the wind. (unless your in an urn....then that's just odd.)

  2. coz they are close-minded people living in dark ages

  3. This answer belongs in the R&S section but here goes.

Christians believe in resurection. The resurected body may be physical or spiritual depending upon the denomination. At various points in history atheists and pagans have cremated bodies to completely destroy them as a rebellion against resurection theory. The concept is to completely destroy the body such that it could not be reconstituted. As a result certain Christian denominations consider cremation to be a somewhat blasphemous act. The Catholics were particularly staunch against cremation. However, the official Vatican position is that cremation is acceptable as long as it's sincere - not intended to refute resurection theory - and the ashes must be burried. (Ashes to ashes, dust to dust. From the earth you came and to the earth you shall return.)

  4. I have no idea.  It's usually bible-thumpers that are scared of it which also confuses me.

It's not like you need your body after your dead!

  5. imagine all people will be cremated than what will be happen to the cemetery's ,churches  it is a big business to bury people ..
