contrary to popular belief they dont harm birds they arnt so stupid as to fly into blades , i mean they can spot tiny insects on the wing thats why they dont hit blades of turbine surely its better to have clean free energy than doing without turbines.

  1. It has been shown throughout Europe in Countries such as Germany, Denmark and Sweden that Wind Power is not the answer to our obligations under the Kyoto agreement. These countries have yet to decommission a single conventional Power Station even though they have built vast arrays of Wind Turbines. A case in point is Germany, having built over 12,000 Turbines they still rely on Fossil Fuels to power their economy and lifestyles, and have no plans to close a single conventional Power Station. In fact due to similar problems in Denmark & Sweden, Norway have decided not to entertain Wind Power at all. Instead they have opted for the construction of two new "Clean" Gas Turbine generating facilities.

    · The loss of visual amenity in an area of natural beauty

    · The effect on tourism

    · The effects on wildlife

    · The effects of white noise on health

    · Low frequency noise that is proven to be injurious to health

    · Turbine locations in close proximity to residential properties

    · The damage to local roads during construction

    · The construction of roads over previously unspoilt countryside

    · The volume of traffic through the villages during construction

    · The efficiency of wind power as a method of electricity production

    · The future cost of electricity produced by this method

    · The possibility of power cuts

    · Property devaluation

  2. Because they don't know all the facts. In one of our science exams in school, we had to put pros and cons of wind turbines and our teacher had told us what the cons were meant to be-and that they were all rubbish, but it was what the examiners wanted to hear!!

People think they're noisy and an eyesore-but they're not noisy and I don't think there's anything cooler than a whole field full of wind turbines.

  3. Some people think they are ugly and they ruin the country side, I think they look quite cool and we are going to have to come up with an alternative to power plants at some point

  4. I have heard people calling them an eyesore but I disagree. I think they look well designed and quirky. Each to their own I suppose.

  5. They are large, inefficient, expensive and ugly.  I think their usefulness is severely limited.  Solar is a far better alternative, clean energy source.  Expect to see some major technological breakthroughs in solar during the next ten to twenty years as well as important improvements to energy storage systems.

The technology improves exponentially.  The next two decades will see changes in Solar power similar to the changes in computers from the early 1980's to today.

  6. Any NIMBYs that complain about them should have a huge coal burning power plant built next to their houses. Then ask them again if they prefer wind turbines or fossil fuel burning power stations.

  7. Because it messes up the Doppler radar display.

  8. Because they have stock in oil companies

they don't want the turbines to ruin their view of whatever
