Question:

Why are some people so critical of feminism?

Is it pure misogyny or is it a more of a misconception of what feminism is due to the vile spewed out on a daily basis by the likes of Rush Limbaugh?

And what about women who don't like feminism and think that feminism is anti-family, anti-children, pro-promiscuity, and anti-man?

And what about men who identify themselves as feminists being labled as "feminized" or "self-hating men"?

I don't get it. Here we are in the 21st century and gender equality is still a controversial issue.

  1. I am a guy first of all

I would hope for gender equality, and i honestly do believe men and women are equal

But the way some women handle being feminists, they just come across as jerks, and i kinda just want to hate them. They don't say good things about women, they just insult men, which cant make most men think better of them, can it?

  2. Because though feminism may have done a bit of good for women ,it has left behind a wake of destruction for others.

So called equality , at any cost.

  3. "Is it pure misogyny or is it a more of a misconception of what feminism is due to the vile spewed out on a daily basis by the likes of Rush Limbaugh?"

I think that has a lot do with it.  A lot of people, like Limbaugh try to paint feminists as these unattractive man-haters who sleep around and hate the idea of family and/or having children.

"And what about women who don't like feminism and think that feminism is anti-family, anti-children, pro-promiscuity, and anti-man?"

Well, they're ignorant, and they're choosing to believe the stereotypes instead of doing their own research.

  4. the reason i do not trust the motives of feminism is that their supposed goals have already been accomplished.

Its like saying i was out doing my homework(example) when my homework is sitting completed on the table when i walk in.

    Would you believe my story?

  5. i think there's the lack of a good, specific definition for the term feminist; unfortunately, it means too many different things to so many different people. i'm sure there are those who have encountered an incredibly obnoxious, self-labeled feminist or two who influenced their belief of the "movement" (again, whatever that is exactly) as bunk. but,  on the other hand, you may have a boy who grew up with a "feminist" mom as his hero...

also, your question comes off more as a statement or opinion than an actual query. if i said "why are some people so critical of child molesters?" you would already know my thoughts before reading any further. now, please, i'm not comparing feminists to child-molesters; i chose molestation because it IS completely unacceptable but you would realize i didn't think so when you read my question. am i making any sense?

  6. There is no such thing as equality and never will be period it's the wrong term to use.

Man and woman we are not equal whether you compare me to a man or to a woman.  Education, life experience, location, age etc..all play in making us different along with our s*x.

Face it men and women ARE different and I sure as heck am glad for that!!  What we need to do is respect our strengths and weaknesses that's all it is.  There is no "men are better" "women are better" we each bring to the table strengths and weakness that compliment the other s*x making a partnership an extremely strong team.

Face it folks we are not equal.

Now before everyone goes crazy on me what we do have and should have is:

    EQUAL OPPORTUNITY

That is "real" equality between any two human beings regardless of s*x, color, religion, age etc..

The rest is pointless for every woman that things all men or most are stupid there are just as many who think women are inferior so who is right and who is wrong?  BOTH sexism can be played by both sexes.

  7. I understand feminism very well, which is why I despise it.  My opinion of feminism is based on experience with self-described feminists.

  8. Men have a chemical makeup that makes it difficult to love the way women desire being loved (women's deepest desire) ... verse ... women have a chemical makeup that makes it difficult to respect the way men desire to be respected (men's deepest desires).

Feminist's were the front line for change that went too far ... the pro-family types are those back tracking to write the wrongs ... men who are feminists are advocates for their mothers, sisters, wives, and daughters.

Bottom line, we're still dancing the dance to find the perfect balance between love & respect.

  9. Decades of anti-male bias, female supremacy and sexist laws and acts that discriminates against men.  It isn't difficult at all to understand why some people are so critical of feminism

  10. Whats so hard to understand? There is hate speech directed at men on GWS curriculum's, the likes of Harriet Harman in governments, UNI FEM, social services, education and law all over the world. Propaganda against men is being spread via. miss-leading stats relating to Domestic violence, rape and wage gap.

Why should we accept a group that celebrates Dworkin etc?

People like me criticise the business or militant end of feminism and mainstream feminists pretend the business or militant end doesn't really exist.
