Question:

Why are some people so idiotic to say to say humans weren't meant to eat meat?

I am so tired of these vegans/vegetarians who have a false sense of moral superiority. The vegetarians like that give the rest a bad image.

If humans weren't meant to eat meat, why have humans and our ancestors been eating other animals for thousands of years?

Why are we labeled omnivores instead of herbivores?

We cannot eat raw meat thanks to evolution...

  1. Yet another example of someone ramming their opinions and beliefs down peoples throats, and truly believing their way is the only way.

  2. What kind of nonsensical BS is that? One look at the evolutionary food chain will clear all of that up. I'm fine if a person doesn't want to eat meat, but I do have a problem when they try to shove their beliefs down the throats of others.

  3. Good Question! I love meat...but I am thinking about quitting because our meat supply (cows, pigs, chicken, etc.) are not being fed right, are in unhealthy environments, and are even diseased because they are not being taken care of. The money is so good in the meat and dairy business, that they rarely pay attention to what they are packages for us.

I drink organic milk and organic meats...but I even question if those companies are being completely honest.

    :-)

  4. Average Joe has it right.

It is a tortured attempt to justify a diet as a moral stance. And it is based on a poor understanding of evolutionary forces and human physiology.

I know tons of vegetarians that couldn't care less what I eat. They have no investment in making me do what they do. Just as I don;t try to foist my tastes on them.

It is those who claim some sort of moral high ground that really get my goat.

  5. humans are supposed to eat anything edible thats out there...

  6. we can live with out a meat and we had to eat it back then only option but we have so much resourse now we dont need to . back in the days when we had to hunt we would thank the animal for giving us there meat. now we kill just for enjoyment . we dont need meat and we shouldnt have it we can live of so many other things ..

  7. Let them think what they want to, its there belief. Everytime I bite into a juicy piece of a medium rare porterhouse I truly feel bad for them.

  8. You should read more.

This matter was put to rest quite a long time ago and is no longer even a topic of discussion amongst doctors and nutritional experts.

Anywhere you go in the world, vegetarians are always  healthier than people who still eat meat.

That's all the evidence you need.

Here's some additional info to help bring you up to date.

We are members of the primate family.

Like many of our cousins, we have an advanced digestive system that allows us to obtain nutrients from all sorts of different things in order to increase our chances of survival.

For some primates (like chimpanzees), meat is naturally one of those many things, but for many other primates it is not.

Humans are one of those other primates.

We do not handle meat well.

It makes us ill unless we first sterilize it and build a tolerance to it.

And, even then, it has many negative effects on our health.

"Why are we labeled omnivores instead of herbivores?"

    --------------------------------------...

Because most humans currently eat meat and plant foods.

It doesn't mean we're meant to eat meat and plant foods, it's just what most people currently do.

"If humans weren't meant to eat meat, why have humans and our ancestors been eating other animals for thousands of years?"

    --------------------------------------...

I don't quite understand this question.

Are you saying that if we do something for a long time it means we were meant to do it?

Because we've also been fermenting and drinking alcohol for thousands of years and I'm pretty sure we weren't 'meant' to do that.

In fact, we've been doing lots of things for thousands of years that we probably weren't 'meant' to be doing.

And most vegans/vegetarians don't care whether we were 'meant' to eat meat or not.

They see the unbelievable physical and mental torture that the factory farm animals go through, throughout their entire lives.

And they see that we don't have to eat meat to live.

That's all the reason they need to stop eating it.

  9. Its double stander, PETA thinks we are evil.

Animals can eat meat, but we cant.

  10. Maybe that lady who runs PTA is a vegan, but surely she does not and cannot speak for all people about eating meat.  However, we can eat raw meat and it is eaten today in many places in this world, as well as raw fish.  I am talking about raw beef, raw chicken, pork that is nearly raw and naturally fish.  Horse meat is also eaten raw.  Try going to Japan and see what I know about.

  11. And actually, we can indeed eat raw meat.  Ever hear of steak tartar or sushi?  The fact is that some of our ancestors ate a nearly wholly meat diet, and our bodies rely upon the fatty acids and enzymes we get from eating meats as a part of what keeps us healthy.  Now, do we probably eat too much meat, in this country?  Probably, but a meat-free diet is not natural, and a lot of effort has to go into finding substitutes for the things we miss if we don't eat any meat.

Having said the above, I should note that I have a number of good friends who are committed Vegans or vegetarians, and who are not at all pushy or doctrinaire about their choice to live meat free.  They often site moral reasons, but they don't try to shame me because I don't share their moral reasoning.

  12. If we weren't meant to eat meat than why is our digestive system capable of digesting it?  All primates are capable and do eat meat.  Chimps have been sighted hunting and eating monkeys.  Pandas are suppose to eat meat and they eat bamboo which leads to little energy.  I rather eat meat than eat and sleep constantly like they have to.  Not eating meat is a personal choice, not a moral one.

  13. I don't care what they think! They won't stop me from enjoying my steak!
