usually, grandslams have one-half of the draw playing one day, and the other half playing the next until the latter stages of the tournament.

this format gives players a disadvantage as matches would have to be crammed in a short time.

  1. because of rain delays.. i think some matches in the 1st round will also be played tomorrow ( wednesday) because of everyday rain delay...

  2. There was a rain delay today so some matches from today have to be played tomorrow.

  3. They take the first round matches and put them over a three-day time span.  The first-round matches take place over three days and during that period of time, 12 matches are played per day on the three main courts, which are centre court Philippe Chatrier, Suzanne Lenglen and court number one.

It gives more room for rain delays and adds an extra day of tennis.  The players that start on Sunday get two days of rest instead of one, while the other players that start Monday and Tuesday get the normal two days.

  4. uh i think its because of the postponing of matches due to rain delay......to be honest, i reckon all slams shud get roofs like rod laver arena in melbourne in case of rain because really the slams r the 4 major tourneys each season and having so many rain delays just makes them really unorganized
