Why are some swords called b*****d swords?

It was because it killed males, that were most often dad, leaving their children b******s which was a bigger deal then as it is now.

that's a load of c**p. Sorry. It's because of the grip length. The true "b*****d" sword is considered a hand and a half length grip. Not specifically a one handed sword, and not long to be considered a 2 hand sword, hence a "b*****d".

The average b*****d sword only weighed around 2 1/2- 3 pounds and was very easy to wield. Even though it was considered a hand and a half length, it was used with both hands. Because of that, it was a very fast and very manueverable weapon.
