Question:

Why are sports such a big part of our culture?

Every year we spend billions of dollars on sports. I like them just as much as anyone else, but isn't it going to far when colleges put more money into athletic equipment rather than academic programs?

Sports seem like a waste of money when so many people are homeless and have no health insurance.

Aren't our society's priorities mixed up?

  1. Sports is a substitute for hostilities and pent-up emotion. It is where you can compete without hurting your perceive enemy.

Look at those native tribes in almost all the different countries. In their ceremony, they dance a "make believe" war, with their spears and wares.

Sports is a peaceful version of war.

  2. That is a very good point but on th other side sometimes sports are a good thing because they can be the only way some people can get into colleges.

  3. They give pride, excitement, and the urge to become stronger and stronger. I personal think  the world would be much duller if we didn't have sports

  4. Common situation you met like many other people, therefor,be patient, and check the resource here i found useful.http://health-insurance.onlinebestoffer....

  5. They're definitely mixed up.  It makes me so angry that football/baseball/whateverball players make so many millions of dollars per year while the average, working-class woman and man makes peanuts or just enough to get by.  What is wrong with this society that colleges are ready to shell out big bucks for athletic equipment while the homeless/soon-to-be homeless are sleeping/will be sleeping underneath a thruway overpass?
