For public transportation, why are streetcars favored by city hall over buses?

  1. Streetcars are;

    -quieter

    -produce much less polution than buses

    -can continue operating in poor weather conditions

    -physically make areas more attractive

    -can adjust to amount of passengers, more people the more cars in a train, the less people the excess cars can be removed

    -more comfortable and smooth ride due to the rails and consistent acceleration/deceleration.


  2. they add a quaint charm to an area because tourists love streetcars.

  3. I'll bet you have never been outside the U.S... because most European cities have electric BUSES in addition to street cars.

  4. Pollution from internal combustion engines is eliminated.
