Question:

Why are students always taking the blame?

As a college student I was insulted by some of the responses to the question asked about whether slang should be accepted in school papers. People answering with remarks about how lazy our generation is and how we are getting away with spelling leniency. In all of my classes poor spelling have been punished with lower grades so in fact we are not getting away with anything nor are we able to be lazy about it. And the generation bashing does not stop here. Whenever something bad happens around the city the first people that everybody jumps on is the teens. It is almost as if the generation of our parents did not have any problems of their own. Now i am not saying that crimes are never done by kids but i believe that a whole generation should not be judged by a few bad apples.

  1. I totally agree!!

Im 18 and i see a lot more problems through influences such as alcohol caused by people much older than me. They blame our generation, when actually the generations before have been just as bad and still havent grown out of it.

Teenagers do cause trouble but can be used as scapegoats so the real problem does not have to be dealt with.

As for students taking the blame, i experienced this a few times at school. Especially when you are given detention for losing a book and then the teacher finds out that they infact have it as weve told them all along.

  2. I think every generation thinks the next generation is lazy and spoiled. It's part of human nature, I guess. Just wait until you are 50 and start complaining about how lazy all your cloned offspring are.

  3. Its because our lives are so much better then theirs were. There jealous.

  4. Dude, this has been going on for generations before and will continue for generations to come.

Someday you and your contemporaries will be blaming society's ills on "those dang kids".  Don't take it too seriously.

  5. Well...try to see it from there perspective...

The bad grammar that you see is mostly from instant messaging. A lot of teens are texting so they have to write in slang and such in order to shorten the text message.

The reason why this generation seems to blamed more is well...we have more freedom than the past generations. Your parents probably got the beating of their lifetime whenever they did something bad. Today, if you got a beating then you'd call childrens' aid or the police.

  6. Teachers think we have it easy so they like to generalize the whole generation. I personally think it is the teachers fault that the student makes these kinds of mistakes. We can't forget though that these are real problems and its the teachers responsibility to handle them.
