  1. new york is further from the equator. Alaska has the longest days of any state in the summer


  2. Because New york is the city that never sleeps. So days would be longer and in CA they sleep so there days are shorter.  I guess thats the way people grow up so thats the way it is!

  3. The closer you get towards the equator, the closer to equal day and night will be in length. New York lies farther away from the equator than California, so the lengths of days and nights in California will be closer to equal.

  4. New York is closer to the north pole, and since the north pole is facing towards the sun in winter, it means it gets 24 hours of sunlight, and the further south you go, the less and less light there is. And visa versa for winter.

    As new york is closer to the north pole than california, thats why.
