  1. I wish I knew. I stayed at a domestic violence shelter last year and the entire staff treats all the clients like c**p.. they would talk about how stupid we were and how we deserved what we got.  I wanted to apply for a job there and I heard them say "she's too stupid to work here".. All they did was criticize and put down everyone.. they are supposed to be your support and help with things like employment, housing, etc.. I left there and went back to my abuser because the abuse I got there was FAR worse than anything my abuser did to me..  I don't think it's because they had a bad day but I think it's because they look down on us and think we are scum and treat us like it.. Ask most people about homeless people.. they will tell you a lot of things about yourself you didn't know..like that all homeless people are addicts and too lazy to work and you choose to be homeless, etc.. I think even those who are educated may still think that too..who knows.

  2. If you give somebody an inch they'll take a yard. They have firm guidelines to follow therefore, they can't show weakness.

  3. Rude? ;-(

Being rude to clients should be taken care of immediately. Not only at shelters but non-profit organizations and facilities. People, regardless of their station, (their situation) should be treated with the utmost respect. Many people in shelters suffer with lack of confidence and low-self esteem issues. They don't need to be spoken to harshly.

There could be many reasons why a person is rude or their intonation (tone) harsh. Could be their reaction (take it out on others) due to a bad day,  they heard bad news, had a fight with their spouse, kids, deal with stress, etc...However, those things are not excuses to be rude to clients and staff volunteers. I would rather see a supervisor not show up at their shelter/work than speak rudely to others. Especially if they're rude more than once.

Not to worry. God's children (homeless) are taken care of. <3<3

    you're beautiful just from breathing.--
