Question:

Why are supporters inflating their candidate's resumes?

The city of Wasilla, Alaska states it has a population of 6,715 - Why do people keep saying that McCain's VP choice Sarah Palin was the Mayor of a city/town of 7,000, 8,000, 9,000? It seems like people keep inflating the # of people in the town to make it appear more prestigious than it actually is. Furthermore, Alaska in 2000 (census) had 626,932 residents, and in 8 years time, is still probably less than 700,000 and is ranked 48th in terms of population. So, again I ask, why are people inflating Palin's resume? If the "Republicans" are convinced Palin is going win over the 18 million Clinton supporters, why do they need to inflate her resume? If the "Democrats" are convinced that Palin is a poor choice, why don't they point out factual information that shows she is a poor choice?

I'm an independent and undecided voter...probably voting for Nader, lol. McCain/Palin nor Obama/Biden appeal to me.

  1. What do you have against small town America?  She governs the largest state in the union.  She has made remarkable progress in this state for the people of Alaska.  She manages a state of 700,000.  She is a quick study and a sharp lady.  Its a shame you are so quick to assume she is not up for the task because she is a woman....If she were a man, we would not even be having this argument.

  2. Yeah, why are supporters inflating their candidate's resume? I asked in a post for a list of Senator Obama's accomplishments in office. I got none. No accomplishments. Why do you guys keep claiming he can get things done? So I agree with you completely.

  3. Agent 99 is a  grabbing for straws here.

Alaska is the biggest state, however it is the least populated state, and has the least   infrastructure  in the country.

Any one as Governor  of a state with a huge budet surplus due to record oil prices can do  a good job.

If I lived in a state where I had to pay no state tax and got a rebate check back at the end of the year I would be pretty happy with my governor too.

  4. According to your own facts, Palin is more qualified to be President than Obama or Biden.  Being a community organizer is of no value.  Being an unremarkable attorney is of little value.  Being an ASSISTANT professor is  of little value.  Being an unremarkable State Senator in Illinois is of little value and serving only 145 days as a U.S. Senator, again, unremarkably is only proof that Obama lacks any leadership skills at all and that he had no issues regarding the extremely corrupt Democrat Machine in Chicago.

McCain has military training and experience as an officer which is, by definition leadership.  Was a very independent minded Senator, which is, again a display of leadership.

Biden has been in the Senate since he was 26 years old.  He toed the Party line for 35 years, never taking a opposing stance on anything.  That is not a display of leadership.

Palin, a Mayor (leadership position) a Governor (leadership position) opposed and defeated corrupt members of her own party (independence and leadership).

What matters, is leadership.  Leadership. Leadership.  We are seeking to elect what is, in essence the Leader of the Free World.

  5. Well, as you can see from the answers above, they don't see it as inflating.  They'll call Alaska the biggest state in the country when that bigness is composed of square miles and the population is actually only slightly larger than Obama's district in Illinois.  And I posted a list of Obama's accomplishments on AM's question, but as usual, he simply discounted it because he didn't want to hear it.

  6.   Some of the candidates, well what the h**l all of the candidates, have resumes that are a little thin. So as their supporters pick up on something, they add a little to it, and then so does the next person, and so on. It's compounded by the fact that many people are too lazy to do even a little bit of fact checking. So then you get people saying that Palin is responsible for trade and diplomacy with Canada and Russia since they are Alaska's neighbors. It's kind of funny, but nothing new. It's just so much easier to find out about nowadays.
