Why are swimming pools for lane swim or competitive swim colder than other pools.

I was talking a swimming class with my tot and they said the tot pool is usually about 35C the leisure pool is usually about 32C and the lane swim pool is usually 28C

  1. Because when you're doing heavy exercising you need a cooler temperature. If the temperature were higher for lane swimming you would not be able to swim well, would tire out faster, and would not be able to go as far. For example, if you are walking the temperature can be higher than if you are racing in a marathon. (The pool temperatures you cited are higher than most pools you will find.) [28C is 82.4F; 35C is 95F]
