In most states, even with parental consent, you can't get body art until you're 18. I understand that guys bodies don't stop growing until their twenties. So that may cause the tattoo to get warped and stretched but girls stop growing at around 15. I reached my maximum height 5'10" at thirteen. I think that tattoos are about expressing yourself. I got my first tattoo on my 16th birthday. My mom signed me out of school and took me on a half hour drive to the nearest city. It was so exiting. And the tattoo I have now I've had for almost 3 years. I don't regret it at all. Its the rune Uruz. I feel that it represents my specific personality perfectly and I got it for a spiritual reason.
Then I hear people say that 16 year olds change their minds a thousand times a day. But I didn't. I drew all of the tattoos I now have when I was 11 and when I turned 18 I still wanted them. I feel like I've waited forever for nothing. Besides even if they do grow to regret their tattoo because they were stupid and got something offensive like 666 or immature like a lovers name, isn't it their mistake to make? People should have the freedom to express their-selves. I hated when my dad wouldn't let me die my hair or get piercings growing up. the first thing I did when I turned 16 was die my hair purple and it's been crazy ever sense. But now I'm getting older and I have to die it back so that I can get hired. All of those years threw middle and high school I could have spent expressing my self if not for my fathers out dated rules. but now it's too late. I'm too old to look the way I want to. I don't feel any different or more mature now that I've graduated. I was just as educated and responsible at 16 or 14.
Then I hear people say. "Oh when your old think how it's going to look"
why would I care what the tattoo looks like when I'm 70. by then no one else is going to care either. You're old and unattractive. life stops being about what's on the outside. So what if I have tattoos. They looked good for the first 50 years I had them.
I think that at 14 with parental permission you should be able to get a tattoo but their has to be a size limit. and at 16 it should be Souly your decision. Let people express themselves. Tattoos are germinate pieces of artwork. They can be pricey. If someone is willing to pay 2 hundred dollars for something don't you think they would take into consideration if it's something they'll want for the rest of their lives?
