Why are tattoos looked at as so trashy and ugly by some people?

I dont understand it... maybe im just too naive to understand it but some tattoos have such a strong, and it can be an emotional meaning. How is that trashy?

For reasons sociological & generational.  New trends aren't adopted by the "in" crowd or those deemed acceptable.  They're adopted by those who are generally lacking love from the general public and in the fringe of society.  The term used could be almost anything derogatory - indecent, amoral, un-American, the list goes on.

Consider long hair on men, for example, or a pierced ear.  40 or 20 years ago (depending on which example), only the trashy, untrustworthy weirdos have these.  Now?  h**l, I've seen ministers with both.  Similar can be said for t-shirt, rock music, rap, etc...

And now tattoos.  Of course, it's not like the ones who have a problem change.  For the most part although some people do the majority don't.  Instead, they die, and the next generation sees whatever as no big deal.  Some 50 years or so ago, for example, there were laws against me & my gf getting married.  I'm white, she's not...

Anyhow, this is not to say that all changes stick, but it is the general model they follow.

Well, because some people get tattoos that look dirty and trashy.  Whether because it was a bad choice of a tattoo, or because it was poorly done.

If a tattoo has meaning to you, and you get it to forever leave a mark on your skin to show to others or to remind yourself then that's (in my opinion) a good tattoo.

And in the end, if you're happy with your tattoo, who cares if someone else thinks its trashy.

I don't think it is, but some people are very old-fashioned.  My mother, for instance, hates tattoos, especially on women.  She thinks they are a sign that a girl has been around with a lot of guys.

It really isn't but a lot of people, that have been felons, have them , probably 1 %  of the average general public has a tattoo, about 50-75% of people in prison have them and I think that scares a lot of people, also, supposedly your body is a temple and is not to be deviled, and a permanent mark on the skin or permanent piercings by some are thought of  as defiling the innonocent and beautiful and unmarked body you are given at birth, my own thoughts are that to each his own, I have my ears pierced and would love to have a rose or something cool tattooed on my ankle, the only reason I don't is because if I get tired of it, I am kind of stuck or out a good bit of money to get it taken off, plus, it kind of hurts. So, guess I am a wuss. Good luck, keep an open mind and do what you want.

I think its because there are a lot of trashy and ugly tattoos in the world. i love tattoos but the **** some people get is just ridiculous and gives the rest of us a bad name.
