Why are teenagers SO stupid these days??

Okay, well, I'm a teenager but embarassed to be one.

1.Teenagers fight for stupid reasons like, "You stole my profile on Myspace *punch* "

2.All they are concerened about is their looks. Life is NOT a beauty contest.

3.Guys are all punks now, they act inmature and stupid to be funny but they're not and girls dress S****y to attract attention. And you should see it! The girls will just walk out in the middle of the street because they think everyone will stop for them!

4.They litter even though there's a trashcan 3 feet away from them.

5.Spit their gum everywhere.

6.Copy other kids own hard work in class, while they get to lay back and talk to their friends.

7.Teens these days are so concerened about their cell phones, like, even if the world was coming to an end this is how it would go,

"OMG, my cellphone. What will happen to my cellhphone. Wait hold on I got a text from my friend OMG."

The phone reads,

"OMG LOLZ DID YOU HEAR THE WORLD WAS ABOUT TO END."

"OMG LOLZ I DID BUT WE HAVE A BASEMENT WE COULD HIDE IN. I FEEL SPRRY FOR THOSE WHO DONT HAVE BASEMENTS LOLROFL."

You get the picture. Like, in class and in the theatre teens are constantly pulling out their phones and texting it's like, you can live 2 hours withou your freaking phone.

Grrr, someone answer why stupidity is becoming such a trend now.

Oh, and the topic of conversation EVERYDAY in class is sexual related or has something to do with a lot of cuss words. You should hear kids these days, they cuss every other word it's stupid.

Teens have always been stupid!  The only thing that's changed is the culture they're living in, so their stupidity is exhibited in a different fashion nowadays (hence the cellphone and internet drama).  And to be honest, from your ranting essay here, you seem to have your own share of that teenagery angst.  Just relax with the fact that teenagers don't stay teenagers forever, k?  Geeze.

You should make an effort to not generalise, as that is a stupid thing to do. Sure, some teenagers are superficial and only care about looks, some teenage girls wear S****y, revealing clothing, some teens litter etc. though all these things you mention aren't exclusive to teenagers. There are plenty of adults who're only concerned with looks, and plenty of adult women dressing provacatively, and lots of people who dispose of their cigarette butt via their drivers seat window. As for the "OMG, OMG" banter, how is that really any different from the group of 40yro+ women whom I work with who constantly bit.ch about every woman that comes in sight (including eachother). You'd assume by the age of 40 people would've grown out of that behaviour.

What it all really comes down to is maturity and common sensibilty. You can't measure these things with age; for some people they come really early on while for others they can come quite late in life.

I don't know...that's how SOME teens act. But I see what you mean. Yes, teens do tend to be more stupid around this time. I'm  a teen too, but I don't act like that at all. But i go to school and I hang around people who are like that.

A lot of what you say has always gone on.  But I do have to say, kids seem to grow up a lot quicker then I remember.  It comes down to these kids parents failing them.  It seems that far too much energy is spent on Hollister, or the latest iphone, s*x ect.  When I was n high school girls were afraid to do anything with a boy in fear things would get twisted and she'd be labeled a s**t.  Now, girls don't give a c**p, its almost a compliment if ppl say she is easy.  Drug use is way up too, and starts way younger also.  Parents need to get it together and teach these kids basic values and respect,b/c right now, I'm scared to death to have these kids run the country in 15-20 years

Teenagers are supposed to be stupid - it's their time of life to do stupid things, hopefully survive, and learn from their mistakes.
