right now i know that i'm going through a hard time in my life. i'm twelve and in the middle of the seventh grade, which so far has NOT turned out to be a fun year. sometimes i just want to sleep until all of this is OVER! i always try not to let it out on my family, though...

my sister on the other hand, is just acting sooooooo cranky. she never seems happy with family anymore. whats wrong with her? is she going through a hard time like me?

  1. It's mostly hormones that cause teens to act weird.  According to Nigel Latta, teens are brain damaged, but they get over it eventually.

  2. If you're worried about your sister then talk to her.  If she doesn't want to open up to you why don't you start by telling her about all the stuff you're going through.  Maybe she could give you some advice or something.  Good luck.

  3. There are many reasons your sister is being cranky:  She could be going through a tough time, her friends could be picking on her, the guy she likes could be interested in someone else, the school year isn't going the way she had planned and she could be just plain hormonal.  Maybe her period makes her cranky.  Maybe she's gained a little weight or wants to take a little weight off and isn't being successful with it.

Of course, your sister could be in the early stages of depression, which isn't uncommon amongst teens either.

Your sister could feel like she's under a lot of stress...from her school load, from her friends....pressure to perform at a certain level or to go with the flow or risk be labeled a loser and losing friends.  Sometimes friends begin to change for the worse and a good student has trouble making the decision to let that friend go, or join them in their drug or alcohol abuse, skipping school and such.

Maybe someone or a group of people at school are bothering her, bullying her or something and she doesn't know how to handle it.

Whatever the case may be, it is fairly normal for teens to go through cranky periods.  however, most teens wish someone would be there for them, someone would listen, someone would be supportive and not be judgmental.  Maybe you can talk to your sister and maybe, if she knows you're there for her, it will help.

  4. there are a few reasons she could be "cranky" i know the first one might sound cliche but she might have PMS. secondly there might be deaply rooted issues that she is trying to face on her own. fitting in alone can be hard, depending on how old she is... if she is 13/14 she might just think its not cool to be nice to her little sister or she might bhe having a hard time finding who she is, in the sense that she is only just a teen but wants to be an adult. she wants to fit in. she could be just developing and feels insecure. if she is 15-17 she might just be a *****, she also might be having trouble at school, with a boy, friends, parents... there are many reasons she might be "cranky"... maybe you should talk to her... or her friends. ask them what is going on.

you may be right however, if you are going through a tough time, there is a chance she is too....
