  1. The Cubs just have an all around good team & Rider N, I think you better check the baseball record books cause the Yankees have won over 100 games multiple times & did win over 105 games 5 times. 1998 they won 114 games, 1961, 109 games, 1939 106 games, 1932 107 games & 1927, on of best all time team won 110 games.

  2. pitching/hitting/defense means win a lot of games

    they have all 3

  3. Their bullpen is insane. Great starts, relievers, and Wood is a pretty good closer. Their offense is doing great. Lots of sluggers and high OBP.

  4. Just loaded with talent, no real weak spots.  The pitching has been surprisingly strong this year, especially Dempster.  Wood has been tough, Marmol has been a monster--today he came in with two runners on base and one out, and struck out two batters with seven pitches.  The pinch hitters have been coming through often enough to make a difference.  Soto has done an outstanding job as a rookie catcher.  When you look at this team and go down the lineup, you can see they're just solid all around.  And Lou is making good decisions and getting a good effort from everybody.  Rich Harden has been a strong addition to the pitching staff.

Although Fukudome has been in a second-half hitting slump, lately he has shown some improvement.

Overall consistent team effort, with a lot of different people contributing to the success the Cubs have enjoyed so far.  They have to carry it through October.

  5. They can hit and pitch and a great temper coach that will win the champ

  6. It's the MOTHER of ALL next years!

i don't think this team has an MVP or an MVP candidate. everyone is doing their job & when Lee is struggling Ramirez steps up and so on....

    Eamus Catuli

  7. idk maybe its the managers temper that gets them going but who knows if they can keep this up till the world series if they get there.

  8. They are doing so well because they get to play the Pirates, Reds, Nationals, Astros, and all the other crappy teams in the NL. Cubs will choke come playoff time.

  9. They're on pace to win 105 games....wow, yankees have never won that many in a season (Record: 103)

  10. I think it's the role reversal between Kerry Wood and Ryan Dempster. Dempster was horrible last year but has turned into a gem this year. Wood ain't doing so bad either(Great closer)

  11. I'm JUST as confused, but I AM WAAAAAAAAAY  happy about it!

    You wont see me complaining!!!!

  12. Dempster has become pretty much the club's ace (Big Z is the 'ace' but Demp has been just as good if not better).  Rich Harden was picked up in a fantastic trade.  The Cubs' #2 pitcher from last year is now the #4 (Ted Lilly).  Geovanny Soto has been solid behind the plate.  Aramis Ramirez is a monster when he is batting.

The key differences from this and last year IMO are Dempster being starter and MARK DEROSA.  He's having a career year and is a true jack of all trades.  Without Derosa and Dempster, the Cub's would probably be around 74-61.
