Question:

Why are the Cubs security guards so evil?

They wouldn't let me go behind the visitors dugout to try to get autographs (Although I ended up getting 7 Nats). They yelled at me for going "too fast". They told me to go to my seat and stop collecting Nationals autographs 45 min before the game. Right after they told me, a bunch of Nats came out to sign. What is their problem?

I even asked a guard why they wouldn't let me try to collect autographs near the dugout and the man bumbled and couldn't find an answer!

  1. Sorry bro

  2. MLB policy is that the players get 45 minutes before game time with no distractions -- autograph seekers, media, anything. Generally this is loosely enforced, but the guards were within their responsibilities getting people to leave at that time. (And it gives the legitimate ticket-holders better access to their rightful seats.)

But they do sound like jerks nonetheless. Seems to be that way everywhere; the job rather requires it.

Look in the dugout sometime at the park or while the TV camera is showing it, there's a big sign advising the media to clear out at the T-minus 45 minute mark.

  3. you usually can get all the autographs you want during bating practice...once batting practice is over they want the area cleared so the people with those tickets has access to their seats.

yes they should be less evil but they are just doing there job

if you have a seat in that area just show them the ticket and they should leave you alone

  4. maybe they were having a bad day, maybe they got yelled at for it happening before and didnt want to get into trouble again, why are you evil?

  5. Wow, they ARE evil. I would try to find out the rules to getting the player's autographs, if there are one. Better yet, you should try filing a complaint to the employment manager and tell them exactly what happened. Who knows, find out and see if maybe they can find a way to make you happy, like giving you some autographed souvenirs from the Cub players? Because in the end, YOU are the customer and as a fan you're the reason why the Cub players get paid.

Another thing, don't let security guards ruin your day. They're paid to "secure" not "be charming" although it wouldn't hurt if they WERE a little less grouchy.

  6. That sucks. If it makes you feel any better, remember that the Nats will have a World Series ring before the Cubs ever do. I went down to Nationals Park for a game earlier this year and the staff was great!

  7. couple years ago i went to a cubs astros game and i was like 7 and they wouldnt let me get autographs

  8. I don't know about them being so evil, but they could be doing thier job. But I don't see why they would hve a problem with you wanting autographes from the Washington Nationals. And the Chicago Cubs allows fans that they can collect autographes up until the time the batting cages are removed, and that is apprioxately 45 minutes before game time. Every team has different polices as far as when fans can collect autographes. Plus if you even do stop to think, maybe that one guard that you asked, might have been new to the job, and he couldn't have an answer for you. And plus I see this, Fans will be allowed to wait at the Club Box wall on the outfield side of the dugouts. But check out the site, that I posted. And I looked at this site before, so that is why I am aware of up until when you can collect autographes.

  9. It's really too bad what happened to you. But you have to remember that those guys usually have Cub fans to deal with. They probably thought you were one of the majority and concluded that they needed to use strong-arm tactics with you like they do with the Cubs fans. Wear their shoes for a while, and maybe you can see why they've developed that bad attitude. Comes with the job at Wrigley.
