Question:

Why are the Reds pitchers so horrible? Is there any hope for this pathetic team? Is it Bakers fault?

I think we should fire d**k Pole, the guy aint doing a darn thing for our pitchers!! Harang fresh back from the DL supposedly feeling great gives up 8 runs and 8 hits in two innings?! We're making Wandy Rodriguez look like Cy Young just like every other stinking starting pitcher we face! Is there any hope for the Reds and should Harang retire?

  1. The fact is, the Reds are a team in transition from old to young, and in most of those cases, the team just can't perform.  After trading Griffey and shopping Dunn, they are in the right direction, but some of their young guys are recieving way too much hype to be great, like Joey Votto and Edwin Encarnacion.  these guys will be average major leaguers, nothing more.  If the Reds want to win anytime soon, they are going to have to keep building up their farm system.

It is not the fault of dusty baker (for once) but the fault of the ownership, who, like teams this year such as the Mariners, has failed to recognize that they are not in contention and not dumping salaries.

The reds have a great history and they can certainly get back to their elite status of the 70's.  but it will not happen in the next 5 years.

  2. man you rag on your team a lot but what can i say im a NYY we in the playoffs every year!

  3. Dusty is a Great Manager

Dusty took the risk to Manage a bad team

Same with Bruce Bochey with the Giants

they took the risk, and they knew they would have a bad first few years, but eventually get to the playoffs

  4. If this club could implode within management and start new, it would go a long way. It seems that every decision - from the low-minors to the Reds - turns out wrong and the cases of pushing young talent - especially pitchers - to the big leagues before they are ready is well chronicled. Dusty Baker was a retread manager, but the fault can't be placed in his office.....he hasn't been around that long to take the wealth of the blame.

  5. I feel your pain.

Its finally getting through my thick skull what you've been saying all along but I didnt want to believe it.

There are so many problems, its hard to pin point whose fault any of this is.  In any event, Dusty sure has'nt helped.

Im sorry, I have no answers for you.  All I can say is "sigh"

  6. lol...There's really someone named d**k Pole?

No, there's no hope for the Reds.

  7. Harang is having arm difficulties and should be shut down for the rest of the season and let him rest his arm for next year! I would also call up our best Minor League pitching prospects and let them have the experience for the rest of the season! I hope they do some major re hauling of this team in the off season by trading Adam Dunn and getting some pitching in here!

  8. Yeah... they have a lot of young pitchers so that's good... but Arroyo and Harang could be traded for something, yeah.

I saw that Bobby Livingston kid last year and he looked really good.  I dunno about Homer Bailey tho, he isn't smart... good stuff but he can't fool hitters...

Volquez is a great pitcher... but yeah I see yr point about Harang... maybe he wasn't ready to come back yet.

  9. i don't think that reds pitchers are horrible. most of your starters (Volquez and Cueto) are young pitchers that will need time to learn how to really pitch. Harang...sorry man..no answer to that and he suppose to be the ace of the staff.  you also need to remember that your ballpark, the balls will fly out when it's hot over there...it's a hitters ballpark. don't worry, with the young talent you have (Bruce, votto, etc), you have a core team that will be good in the future...
