I hate that the SAT are one of the Major Decideing factors of our future they decide if we get into a good collage or if we dont go at all. They should not put so much importance on it becuse some pepole are really smart but can not take long tests like that. So they do not do well

  1. deciding

    college

You have to it's the only way they know if you can do the work, or if they are wasting their time trying to teach you anything.

  2. Because they eliminate people that think college is spelled collage and can't use proper grammar.

  3. Umm they see how smart you are with it u get held bak if u fail

  4. its a 3hr 45 minute test, it's not that long.

it is a test of knowledge, and though it is stressful, it is essential.

    =D

  5. I completely agree. My guees is that it is a way to see what you know. Colleges need a way to examine student comprehension and understanding of subjects somehow. The SAT and ACT is a good guideline for them to see what students now on a national level.

They expect you to know the material...as it measures your academic knowledge as a whole.

Unfortunately they don't take into account the fact that the "testing" itself is a challenge for some students therefore it cannot accurately depict their knowledge.

  6. They teach you how to spell COLLEGE.

But some schools it all rides on how smart you are.  This is the only way to measure it.  I know it sucks because I can't take tests either...But it's really one of the only ways to measure your college level.

  7. On a course requiring high results from the SATs, the exams you are likely to sit will probably be harder in college, so if you can't cope with an SAT then from the collages point of view, how are u going to be able to handle their exams?

I got just above the minimum for my course (aero engineering) and i've found it **** hard to get by. The college wants results, if they let in lots of students who end up dropping out, then their image and reputation also suffer.

I know how u feel, i don't do great in exams, but get top grades for coursework, but I can still see it from the universities point of view, it just means I need to work harder and practice for exams more.

Of course if the college course you are applying for is more practical or aptitude based that is a different point entirely. But for academic courses, I think my point stands, as much as I hate it too. Remember a large number of poor performers are just people who don't put in the effort.

  8. Still better than what we have here in India.

14 years of school, but in the end it all comes down to ONE examination that is held by the Government's education board.

Doesn't matter how well you did in the other 13 years, or even in the last year. It all comes down to that ONE exam in March. Do well, you get into whatever college you want. Mess up, you won't get into anywhere.

I developed a skin disease during mine... can't get into any college here.

But I hear you, it's not fair to emphasize one test so much.

  9. Honestly, I don't know. They only test just how good you are at taking tests. What I would do is find out if the schools you wan to go to take the ACT and I would take that instead. Apparently it gives you brain more justice than the SAT.

  10. Because they need some sort of standardized test to test you on how much you know. In some schools it's easier A's than other schools, where a person who put in the same amount of work can only pull through with a C. But I agree, I HATE the SAT. I took a practice one and it drained the sh*t out of me.
