Why are the back of steamboats red?

  1. My first guess, it a pretty color. Steamboats are Flamboyant and sometimes painted for a Festive look.

    The next guess may be the type paint. Certain paints are designed to resist algae growth, and, they not come in a lot of color choices.

    This all I know and found no link to back it up, sorry.
