It seems like anything below SuperBantamweight is either not televised or is put on a smaller PPV.............and these are the best fighters in these lower weight classes.........I bring this up because this weekend there is going to be the biggest fight in the Superflyweight division since Tapia/Romero, but it's a PPV and it doesn't help matters that HBO is televising one of the up and comers in Gamboa on the same night. Why doesn't HBO or Showtime ever put the talents in these lower weight classes on display anymore???..........I used to see Tapia all the time..........what happened???

I think it hurts boxing that these weight classes are largely ignored by the networks because that results in the fans stereotyping these fighters as light punchers do to their weight. I haven't seen either fighter yet, but from what i've read the Mijares vs. Munoz Superflyweight match this weekend is a great matchup.....

  1. lack of media exposure by the major television and cable networks, boxers like alexis arguello, wilfred benitez, jeff chandler, pipino cuevas, roberto duran, wilfredo gomez, marvin hagler, ray leonard, carlos monzon, jose napoles, terry norris, eusebio pedroza, aaron pryor, edwin rosario, salvador sanchez, pernell whitaker, carlos zarate etc. had media exposure.

  3. I completely agree with you.  This weekend's unification between Cristian Mijares and Alexander Munoz is the perfect fight to be shown on HBO or Showtime.  It gives the fighters more of the recognition that they deserve and it allows the fans to see the lighter weight classes.  Most fans don't want to pay 35 bucks to see two guys that they don't know- thats why I wish that HBO or Showtime would showcase these lighter guys.  Its too bad that HBO won't chalk up the money to buy the fight because the Mijares-Munoz fight is definately worth it for them, and more importantly, the fans.  Sometimes, I guess things make too much sense to happen...
