Question:

Why are the boards in my laminate floor separating?

I have just installed a laminate floor in my condo. I let the boards acclimatize for the specified period so I'm not sure why they seem to be pulling apart. I would love any ideas or ideas of how to fix without pulling up the whole floor. Thanks.

  1. when you finished installing the boards and got up next to the wall, maybe you left too large a gap.  If so, the boards will separate.  There should only be a small gap left for swelling.  check that out first.

  2. The humidity may be lower than it previously was, causing the wood to shrink.

  3. wet possibly  dogs peeing  you walking on it with wet feet from shower or pool
