  1. The genes vary from child to child. Not everyone one of your children will look exactly like you, some of them won't look like you or your husband at all. You have to consider the fact that your family was there generations and generations before you. So for example, if you and your husband have dark hair and dark eyes, there is a small chance that if there was someone earlier on in you or your husband's family that had blonde hair and blue eyes, your child may have the same.

  2. Genetics is a really funny thing.  You can't determine when and where a gene will "pop" up.  For example, somewhere back in time in my husband's family history, someone had red hair and blue eyes.  While the blue eyes have dominated most in that side of the family, including my children, what's crazy is that a kid with red hair will pop up here and there.  My husband was the only one of his siblings with red hair.  Then his brother's first son came out with red hair.

The fact that some of those kids are coming out lighter actually has very little to do with "mom" and "dad" per say than family genetics.  You said your father was light.  It would go to assume that your nephew inherited that gene while your neice didn't.  And say your neice grows up and has a baby with a very dark man, it's still probable that she MIGHT have a lighter skinned child because that gene will be there in the family line from here on out.  It'll pop up where you least expect it.

    Hope I helped.

  3. Okay, it really depends on how strong a persons body is, My friend had a baby with a chinese, he was white, and the baby turned out to be white and totally look like him cause of his sperm. From studies, it's the man who controls how the baby looks, so it's really not upto you.. the baby can look like anyone so. ya. XD
