Why don't they paly more games at the Sydney Football Stadium. The only team that fills the ground is the Swans - it makes the rugby leagur look a poor cousin by comparison.

  1. afl rules

  2. the swans are the only AFL team in NSW at this stage and Andrew Demetriou makes sure they play the crowd pullers at least every second home game - Essendon, Collingwood, Brisbane, Crows, Eagles for example - and the games are often on Sunday afternoon when there's not a lot of competition for the punters' dollars.

Once there are two teams in NSW and they have to share the blockbusters, there may not be the huge(by NSW)standards crowds.

Am not anti NSW teams but would prefer the second NSW team to be somewhere like Wagga, Canberra or Albury where there is enough AFL interest to support home games, and we in Sydney or Melbourne could easily travel up or down to see them.

  3. I'm guessing you're talking about rugby? I'm from the states and we have a similar problems going on right now with basketball tournaments. The SEC Conference championship is being played at the Georgia dome and it's only filled up to maybe half it's capacity (i'm guessing).  I think teams play certain places just for the title of the stadium.

  4. wat is rugby?

  5. dude..the only reason why swans get 50,000 crowds there is because its the ONLY AFL team in sydney :\

NRL teams regularily get 15-25,000 there, but there are 10 teams in sydney so yeah

  6. LETS FACE IT,VICTORIANS AREN'T EXACTLY BORN WITH PROPER SPORTS BRAINS,WHO ELSE WOULD WATCH A GAME WITH BLOKES IN TIGHTER THAN TIGHT SHORTS DOING BALET IN THE MIDDLE OF A FOOTBALL FIELD."PING PONG PING PONG"  " DOWN MEXICO WAY"

  7. i never go to the olympic stadium. it such a pain to have to get public transport, everythings overly expensive and you very rarely get good seat, you just end up watching the screen anyway. id rather be behind the dead ball at parra stadium than anywhere at ANZ

it should be saved for the bigger matches like origin where enough people would go to create a decent enough atmosphere.

  8. because maybe people are cheap.. haha

I know that i would prefer to watch the footy in the comfort of my own home with a few mates.

  9. the olympic stadium is a pain in the a$$ to get to and from, same as why concerts suck being held at acer arena, more groups should go back to the Ent Center, and more games should go back to SFS or SCG, it sucks taking about 1/2 hr to get to the venue by train.......olympic stadium should ONLY be used for the really big games ie SOO and finals....

  10. It's a cheaper venue to hire. It's also more easily accessible by public transport from all areas and easier to park there. The crowds aren't necessarily bad there, it's just that it's such a huge stadium that 30,000 people in an 82,000 capacity stadium looks like nothing. It does detract from the atmosphere a bit, but what can you do?

  11. To be honest I would rather go to the SCG than to Homebush, I hate going to Homebush. Also SCG is quite close to the city so you can spend time there before and after the game but what can you do in Homebush?????

As for the Swans filling Olympic Stadium they only schedule 3 games there (at most 4) that they know for certain will attract large crowds, as for the rest they are played at SCG in front of only 25-30,000.

  12. There were stoned

  13. due to there are a lot teams play at olympic stadium so if there are teams not playing well fans dont come to watch
