Question:

Why are the democratically elected politicians of Europe in favour of a European state?

Are they under some kind of threat to their lives if they don't follow this path because it doesn't make sense to me that they wish to end true democracy and lose the power they have now and gain nothing in return.

And why would the Queen sign the royal assent to the act recognising the treaty of Lisbon when in effect it puts her out of work?

  1. if this isnt a joke then you are mep,s are not elected by anyone they are selected by their own party members,,,they consist of members of a parliament who have lost their seats and are kicked upstairs with a fat payrise,

if you mean why are mps(of 27 different countries in favour)and their populations are not  then the answer  is in the stars,,,

brits mps fiddling expenses to the tune of tens of thousands of pounds,,,,euro meps (2 recent cases)(1 £750,000 pounds and 2  ÃƒÂ‚£400,000 )paid to their families for doing nothing,,,its jobs for the boys i fear.

the whole of government worldwide is i am sad to say riddled with corruption and kickbacks

  2. European countries have dropped precipitously from the top of the pecking order and individually, can no longer assure that the world pays attention to their needs.  The idea is to combine into a single entity that sill has clout.  In many ways, it is similar to what happened to the USA where 12 sovereign states formed a defensive and commercial union to protect their international interests.  However, only the Senate was appointed by these countries so there is a lot more room for tyranny in the European try.  Another possible downside based the the USA example is that, at some point, a group of countries wanting a "more perfect union" may war on the others that disagree with them as happened during the War for Southern Independence (Civil War/War Betwen the States).  It is a slippery slope.

  3. The insane have taken over the asylum

  4. Your question reflects the mistake that all the euro sceptics make. Nobody wants a federal Europe, maybe some euro fanatics but not the European establishments. They want a bloc of INDEPENDENT countries that can decide together for important global issues like environment, international economy and relations with the new and old superpowers (USA, China, India, Brazil). Euro sceptics can say, "Ah, but the Lisbon treaty..." The Lisbon treaty doesn't establish a new federation or European superstate. It's a bad treaty, but it's not a new state Constitution. "But they say it's like the European Constitution of 2005". Have you read it? I'm not a euro fanatic, I'm realistic. It's what people are not in modern Britain, and it's a curse for the country.

P.S. I can't wait to receive your thumbs down...You old  sighing nostalgics living in a fantasy world.

  5. Because it lines their increasingly full pockets with our hard earned taxes.

  6. A European like me knows that Europe represents just a name today, USA a big country, China a even bigger and more powerful one (in future) and Russia a permanent BIG threat for peace...

I'm a young member of social party in my country, we want to encourage free traveling, living and most of all working and trade free within E.U.

The military importance of a union is a very serious problem for European countries as their military and economical capacity is rather small in comparison with the super-powers of today and tomorrow, so we need to stay together in this matter and all between...

There is no real threat of some military/economical war to happen soon but is best to stay on top...

P.S. The European Union is a seal that guarantees no war between its members (very important right?)

  7. I don't know about the rest of Europe but I'm pretty sure that the UK didn't vote for a European State.  In fact the opposite, we were promised a referendum.  At the time the Chancellor (now the PM) appeared to be a bit Europsceptic but, once elected unopposed, due to bullying everone who might have stood against him, he is suddenly a real Eurocrat.  Vote this man out!

  8. because there are people out there who didn't finish the job that Hitler started back in 1939, total control of Europe, and i for one don't want to be part of a European super state, or United States of Europe. Here in UK we have got along quite well by ourselves, our laws, our taxation system, our way of life without the interference of some faceless bureaucrats, now we have a non elected PM ready to push the button and blow all that away.

the people of Ireland voted no, yet they are being bullied into probably another vote, does this remind you of somewhere else, like say Zimbabwe?

we in UK put more money into the EU than any other member state, are supporting the little nations that want to join the EU, course they do because their countries are dirt poor, come on people wake up.
