Are there any audio in the helmet that the coach may use to communicate with the riders as they compete?

  1. because they are Aero dynamically designed :) for speed

  2. Yes, I do agree it's funny looking shape, but it all helps the cyclists' speed. The helmet is shaped in that certain way to curve out the wind the cyclist is cycling into.

  3. So the government can't read their minds.

  4. they are aerodynamic they are a shape that helps them go faster.

  5. Who says they are "funny looking"?

    Helmets must meet 3 criteria:

    1. Meet minimum protective standards

    2. Provide maximum ventilation (except in the case of time trials helmets)

    3. Cause as little aerodynamic drag as possible - helmets (again excluding TT helmets) do not provide any lift or other aerodynamic advantage

and perhaps a fourth - to look cool (in the eyes of cyclists that is)

As for communications, most communication is via radios with ear buds and is not dependent on the helmet.

  6. so when you point head forward they push the air up to provide acceleration

  7. yes, actually some do have audio, also, they're designed to be streamlined. havent you ever seen a speed skier's helmet? now THOSE are funny looking, lol but same purpose, streamlining for speed
