i have 4 differant bamboo plants all in large containers all planted in the same peat/compost mix, 3 pots are thriving with regular spring/summer feeding but my yellow stemmed bamboo has never been right. the leaves stay yellow throuh the year. when the new culms appear the growth is poor and the leaves appear slightly more green than the older leaves but soon change to pale yellow almost white and the older leaves go papery and fall prematurely. i thought epsom salts might help but there was no change. PLEASE HELP, as i dont want to admit defeat.

  1. Try adding to the mix of this plant only, not the others, and see a change. I had a similar problem with one of my bamboo indoor plants and it worked wonders.

Each day assuming you drink coffee, dump the expended grounds around the stem and water lightly. The remaining acididity of the grounds will add life to the plant.

  2. Sounds like it may have some root damage or 'bug' or grub infestation.Keep it away from the other plants.

  3. remove white and yellow leaves ,

check the ph of your soil,

use ph down  or ph up to get your water / feed right , you want the ph to be between 6.1 and 6.8.

feed once every 10 - 12 days with miracle gro,

every two weeks apply chicken manure pellets,

TO ME IT SOUNDS LIKE NITROGEN AND MAGNESIUM DEFICIENCY, AND THE WATER IS TOO ALKALINE

  4. you.appear to have done most things correctly as you describe, and your other 2 are growing well. Does it need re potting, or new compost ? Sometimes plants are like us, some of us grow into beautiful specimens, and others, like me, don't. I fear you may have a runt there, I would change it next year if there are no signs of recovery.

  5. Take the Panda out for a walk now & then !.
