Can someone please give me some advice about this problem as i had to fight for this tree at a local nursery as its a lovely example and had more than one admirer the day i bought it.I got it in spring and the leaves had just come out but were slightly damaged by hailstones, or so i was told?!. I repoted straight away as it was only in an 8" pot and was 3 meters tall, it responded by puting out lots off new growth but gradually starting with the old leaves first they have started to curl. Please help

  1. Possibly red spider mites. Have a look on the underside of the leafs with a hand lens.

  2. You dont have the required nutrients in the soil. Leaf curling on any plant is heat or nutrition.

The leaves will not curl due to insects - never seen it.

Curling leaves means is responding to something comming internally from the sap of the plant/tree.

Dont water - let it dry out ,and move it in the shade for a week or two and see how it responds - still curled - repot with different soil.
