I'm noticing a lot of red leaves on my rose bushes... it appears to be new leaves but just wanted to make sure.

Thanks!

P.S. I live in Bermuda, and am experiencing mid-summer temps now.

  2. red leaves are normal to some roses.... usually the darker red blooms will also show reddish new growth.... as long as they are healthy looking, they're fine......and new growth means new blooms coming soon, too!!

  3. That can be a mineral and trace element deficiency that also makes the leaves drop off early. You need a good fertilizer with phosphates to counteract this.

I am assuming that these are not roses for which this is a normal phenomenon - since you asked I assumed the redness of the leaves is unusual. I have some knockout roses that have red leaves sometimes, even deep purple in fall. But if your roses do not normally do this then amending the soil with phosphates is in order.

  4. I have a long stemmed rose that the new leaves turn red then green. It flowers and is healthy. So I say it is normal.

  5. New leaves on rose bushes come out red and turn green as they mature.
