  1. Supplementary Restraint System-meaning that they combine with seatbelts-the Primary Restraint System- in a crash situation, to keep your precious body in one piece. And in the car. Needless to say, they work better when combined with the seatbelts. As they say in Australia: No belt=No brains.

    Or, in the USA, or at least in Popular Mechanics: buckle up. Do it for those who love you!
