Why are the lost boy's in the movie "Peter Pan" dressed up as animals?

  1. There was a reason and it's found in the book.

    Peter had a little bit of an ego and didn't want the boys to dress like him.  He felt he should be unique, therefore he made them dress in the skin of the animals.  The rule was that no one should ever mistake one of the Lost Boys for him.

    Also, it helped them blend into the Neverland forest to escape the wily pirates.
