...It was georgia that started the ball rolling by attacking South Ossetia?

Russia merely intervened in greater numbers and pretty much eradicated Georgia.

Although it has all gotten to a Cease-Fire stage now, I am still seeing such things as

"Bush said 6 years ago "We will attack any nation that attacks another""

Quoted, which then by following this statement, Georgia would have been attacked by the US.

  1. Unfortunately, you are missing some pretty important facts here.

Georgia responded to armed harassment from Russian "peacekeepers" (armed Russian military personnel) stationed in S. Ossetia. Russia used this as an excuse to launch their pre-meditated attack against Georgia.

Don't you find it interesting that Russia was able to mobilize thousands of troops and hundreds of tanks and APCs within 24 hours time? This makes one thing painfully obvious: Russia had mobilized its forces along the border with S. Ossetia days if not weeks prior to invading the sovereign nation of Georgia.

It takes a lot of coordination to amass and response force of this size. These Russian troops were built up long before any altercation took place in S. Ossetia.

They had their "peacekeepers" pick a fight with the Georgian military so they could then invade Georgia to "protect the Russian peacekeepers" and S. Ossetians.

I hope this information will change your outlook on this situation. It's yet another classic example of Russian dishonesty and snake tactics that's it's been known for over the last 10 decades.

  2. I'm looking forward to the day we arm Georgia with proper anti-air weapons.  We didn't train and equip the Georgian military properly.

  3. Considering that our involvement in Iraq and Afghanistan has essentially left the US Treasury broke and destitute, I doubt that we'll be taking military action against any country for a while.

  4. This doesn't belong in the Military section but, the politics section.

Well, Georgia is NATO...therefore no matter what America and other NATO members have to be on their side, so really there is no answer.

  5. Russia just got itself involved in a Georgian dispute. South Ossetia is still officially part of Georgia.

  6. I have no problem with Russia.  Its Putin I hate...and will cherish the day he meets his maker.

  7.   And you were hired by who?  I know, you are an employee of the Russian PR Firm that pounced on this story as it was happening !
