Question:

Why are the oil companies contradicting themselves?

In the past, when we (hard working American citizens) were not as concerned about conserving our fuel, the oil companies stated that the prices were rising because of the high demand.

Now in today's article, it states that our fuel prices are soring and one of the reasons is because demand is falling in the U.S. Now how is it that the oil companies can get away with raising prices for both reasons. Where is the median?

  1. they always can give u million reasons to cover what they want.  bottomline is they have the supplies, we DEPENDS on them, whatelse can we say?

But for whatever reasons, the fact is the supply of oil for sure is going to be less and less, we have to find the alternative.(especially for those 1st world countries that lack of surviving skills, yes, 3rd world countries are not depends on high tech, they can live much longer without being affected by oil supply)

  2. I have felt for several months now, that the normal economic process of supply and demand is NOT effecting oil prices,  There is some other factor doing it, and that factor is not necessarily altruistic.

  3. In reality oil isn't going up due to supply and demand. It is "speculators" who drive up oil prices. It's a wordy process having to do with futures. The gist of it is certain parties not oil companies say something false to scare people. They say this knowing it will make the price of oil go up. They know this because they have a great deal of history doing it. Those who know where to invest the money make more money from this process. Those who have a soul know where to invest but do otherwise. There's more to living than to make everyone else miserable.

  4. Let see the oil companies make 8.3 cents per dollar as income.  Which also goes into research and development.

The Federal Government gets 11 cents per dollar, and many state governments receive about 18 cents plus for every dollar taken in.  The oil companies are working for their money, and getting only 8 cents, yet the governement does nothing for it and gets 29 cents of every dollar of your money.  Who is the gready one in the gas issue????

  5. Personally I think they will say anything to protect the amount of their profits. I don't buy anything they say anymore.
