African American (formerly Black, Knee-Grow, Colored, back to Knee-Grow, and before that AFRICAN) history spans THOUSANDS of years.

We've been in the America's for at least 400 years. So you could cover everything from the period of Christopher Columbus to what Barack Obama had for lunch today...

And ultimately, we are of African descent so... if schools can cover the Roman Empire and the Renaissance. (Which isn't American History, but important history none the less.)

Why not the Dahomey, Oyo and Soghai Empires?

So why is it that all we really get during the month of February is the same old Dr. MLK, Jr. Rosa Parks deal...

...and the blurbs on Frederick Douglass, Sojourner Truth, and Harriet Tubman???

  1. We tend to get pigeon holed into the Civil Rights movement. I did learn about Crispus Attucks of  the American Revolution when I was in school..I was told there used to be a day African Americans dedicated to him but we dont do it anymore..

  2. Because black history month was concieved by pandering, condescending, liberal whites, and they pretend to know what you want to hear and learn.

It is funny to me that more people do not see this charade.

Liberal whites are the cause of racial animosity to fit an agenda.  The deception is masterful, I will give them that.  The constant focus on the most divisive racial episodes in American history perpetuates the animosity.  Study of ancient history might actually give somebody a source of inspiration that did not include or originate from European contact and therefore is of little value for people who thrive on division.

    Know your true enemy.

  3. It seems that society wants to continue to let everyone believe that we have no history.I think that we should cover some of the african empire's but then that would go against the belief that aficans never had any empires.

I will admit that their isn't much to cover after european colonization though.Anything resembling an empire was wiped out by the europeans.

  4. Because sweetheart white american has given us one month and we better be happy with that! If it was truley up to them there would be no black presence anywhere. They would have you believe that black people have not contributesd to the whole total advancement of mankind and they are the ones who we should give credit to fot eh advancement of the human race. Now to answer your question on why only the civil war is taught and civil rights movement is becuase teachers have a set lesson plan during that month and its approved by the scholl board. You'll have some teachers that will go outside of that but they rarely will. See they would have us believe that our history started in slavery. If you never teach a black child self worth and the richness of thier true history not just the history of slavery then that child will never have a sense of self worth.

  5. "the Roman Empire and the Renaissance." You may wish to ignore/omit these when you speak of black history. It is counter to your agenda.

  6. Because it never was the point to teach black history. The point is to instill guilt (which brings resentment) into average whites and a sense of entitlement and hatred of whites in blacks. Why? To keep all but the wealthy down. White history has been as maimed and watered down as black history, though.

  7. i think alot of people couldn't handle hearing some of the stuff that happened during slavery.  I could see alot of parents having a problem with the history books talking about the grusome things whites did too blacks. .......i'd wish we could have learned more stuff for black history month, i feel like so much was not taught to me, and now i'm ignorant to the things around me.

  8. Because

True Black history, contradicts White history

    Jews = originally black

    Almost Every prophet was black

Most everything invented in the world by blacks

Many of what whites "claim" to have discovered was discovered centuries ago by black Africans.
