Why are the peppers from my cayenne pepper plant not hot? weird.?

  1. Simply overwatering..and also DO NOT FERTILIZE with a high nitrogen fertilizer such as all purpose miracle grow...Peppers do not respond to nitrogen well other than what is in a good composted soil..this will give you alot of leaves, few peppers, and very little heat on the fruit..


  2. The others have given you great answers that I agree with but also I have found that peppers grown in a very high sand soil are not as hot as peppers grown in a high clay soil

  3. Peppers even from one plant vary in heat. It find they are hotter

    1. When the weather is dry

    2. When they go dark red on the plant

    3. Later in the season

    4. When the weather is very sunny

    Try less watering and leaving them on the plant longer.
