Why are the pics darker on my comp then the camera?

I took a bunch of pics in the dark with my flash. The flash worked great. They came out great on my camera. When I got home I put them on my computer. They came out very dark. Like what I would expect without the flash. Does anyone know why that happened and how I can fix the problem?

Since digital cameras have came out, I have noticed that most photos need to be brightened once on the computer. In your graphics editing software, try adjusting the brightness.
