Why are the roads quiet on a Friday?

Every Friday my drive to work is a lot less busy than other week days. I drive along a dual carriageway that is a major route to Felixstowe. Is it anything to do with fewer lorries on a Friday, or do people just not go to work on a Friday?

  1. well its FRIDAY xD

  2. Most of the time Friday is usually a half day for people, or their day off.  I too notice the lighter traffic going to work, and the parking garage being more empty on Fridays.  Again, most people have the day off, or a half day type of thing.

  3. Well in London on Friday its the busiest day of the week. Using a car here is a nightmare

  4. A lot of people "work from home" on Friday, whether unofficially (bit of a skive) or as part of their agreement with their employer. Others leave early to miss the traffic. I don't know many people who put in a full day at the office on a Friday!

Another possible reason is that those who are in the office often go to the pub straight from work, so maybe they get the train in that day rather than drive?

  5. they are "tired"

  6. Many commuters work a 4 day workweek, which results in lighter than normal traffic on Fridays.

  7. There's less people working on Friday and more people sleeping in.  Therefore less traffic in the morning and more traffic the rest of the day.
