Why are the skins on my tomato's very tough this year?

  1. Interesting question. Here in Northern Utah we've had a weird year for tomatoes. I was gone all June and July to come back and find my tomatoes not dead, but not growing either. My neighbors as well as my co-worker (our company's botanist), are either seeing no fruit set or no tomatoes turning red. Here it is just a weird year for tomatoes. Interesting to hear others are having problems as well.


  2. Well it's because the plants have been grown with uneven watering and stressful growing conditions. Especially temperature extremes.  Mine have been the same this year.  Too much rain and super high temperatures when they are forming.  Also certain varieties are more prone to this than others.  


  3. welll that is a good question it could be because you have,nt been feeding youre tomato plants enough or it could be  because  they are not geting enough sunlight
