Why are the social sciences important?

I've had to answer this question all semester but I can't get anything. I'm stuck. I know it's important I just can't put it into words, I'm not so good with words...any ideas?

The social sciences encompass everything that humans have made and everything that humans have known: music, art, philosophy, law, literature, history, government, politics, social studies, etc...
