He's been batting there most of the season, and his numbers are, below par for a player of his caliber, why don't they bat him 3rd? Especially in todays game when Ryan Raburn is batting there.

  1. because Ryan Raburn is scorching hot right now, and since Ordonez is more of a contact hitter, there using Cabrera as a lower order cleanup hitter

  2. he has been getting to a lot rbi's lately so they want him to keep driving them home

  3. because jim leyland is too stubborn to put guys where they are supposed to bat and because the media thinks he's a genius for turning around the tigers (eventhough a healthy ordonez and guillen, the rookie seasons of verlander and granderson, and the signing of kenny rogers were the real reasons).  at the very least, mags should be batting 3rd with cabrera hitting 4th.  the point of the game is to have your best players hitting in a group (granderson, polanco, ordonez, cabrera); not granderson, polanco, insert random rally killer here (sheffield, thames, raburn, joyce...), then ordonez and cabrera.  guillen is sort of legit as the #3 hitter, but would be better off behind the big guys (like when he has his two best years hitting behing mags in '06 and '07)

  4. He's been getting a lot of RBIs lately. Maybe they want him to get as many RBI opportunities as possible behind the 3 and 4 hitters.
