I thought tour edge put out quality products at decent prices. But the exotics seem to cost just as much as some callaway clubs.

  1. The price got raised when Golf Magazine did a test on the club and it won its catergory. It isn't worth it though. Check out the TM Burner TP line from last year. The clubs are way better, straghter, longer and workable. I love em.

  2. I think its because they are sort of en vogue on tour, its a trendy club to have so this has driven up the prices.  my friend has one and i hit it, i mean its pretty good, but $250-300 is a little much for a 3W.

Not sure how much you play, but remember when Tiger was hitting the PT13 Titleist 3w, the old school one before they started remaking it.  This was probably 6-8 years ago, well u couldnt find one on ebay for less than $500.  But that was also because Titleist wasnt manufacturing them anymore, then they saw the need and put it back into production.

  3. The increase in price is balanced (slightly) by improved materials, tightened tolerances, and of course higher status. I've hit the EX-1 irons and when (someday) they come down in cost, I will definitely buy a used set, I thought they were great. I've hit the Exotics drivers, but wasn't impressed at all. My Tour Edge Bazooka F4 driver was way better.

Bottom line, their lower-level clubs are the best of the worst, and very usable equipment for all but the most exacting golfers. I thought the QL series was their best effort on all fronts.

  4. Market driven - apparently people are willing to pay it.

  5. It's just like gas... if people are willing to pay it, they'll charge it.  Tour Edge had to start out as a "no brand" company and now they are getting recognition so they are striking while the iron is hot.

Tommy Armour, Slazenger, Precept, Wilson, and Top-Flite all used to be considered premium brands in golf at one point in history.  Now they are "lower grade" it's all about consumer buzz... and of course a little bit of technology and R & D.
