  1. For what car? Generally munro shocks with king springs is a good combo.

An independent suspension will provide the best ride control, handling and offer the smoothest ride - all things being equal.  Not all independent suspensions are created equal however.  The most common type on passenger cars is the MacPherson Strut type in the front and Chapman Strut type in the rear.  These suspensions are compact and simple and while they can provide a good ride they are a compromise from a handling standpoint, even though fancy high-end sports cars use them like BMW's.

    A multi-link independent suspension (upper and lower control arms and possibly other links such as trailing links, especially on the rear suspension) limit camber change much better than strut suspensions and offer a lower roll center among other things but take up more room and are more expensive.
