Why are the women's gymnastic event on nbc so late?

it's 12am and they have been on for almost an hr with cut in's to team phelps swimming team. right now they are doing the balance beem and high bars.shawn johnson almost slipped off the balance beem,but she held it.she got a 16.050 score for the balance beem

That may be true about Live events, but I bet NBC has a lot to say about when these events happen for their scheduling. I think the gymnastics have been on so late because NBC knows it is of greater interest to audiences, and they will stay up later.

My husband and I have been trying to stay up late enough for the gymnastics all week, but keep conking out. I finally caught the women's finals till 1:15 a.m. and now I am dead today. I think NBC's decision in this area was poor and it is really runing our enjoyment of the olympics this year. I really don't care about beach volleyball!!!

Also I am on the East coast and the gymnastics have come on at 11 pm here - so they must be lagging the airing of the olympics for the West coast if you are seeing them at 11 pm too. That is weird b/c I thought at least you all were seeing them at a more reasonable hour. I just found a link showing west coast airings for the olympics are not live - which supports my points that NBC puts gymnastics on later on purpose - b/c you guys could see it a better time if they truly showed it live for West!

You must be on the west coast because the rest of us have already seen it all. It's on so late, because well it's in Beijing! Live events cannot be shown worldwide at 7PM prime-time unfortunately!

they are on so late because they show them live from china..which is 12-13 hours ahead of our time depending on where you live

Haha I don't know. But it is funny because I was at a party where the Olympics were on, and it is kind of mean because all the drunk people are making fun of everyone!

I guess atleast we're paying attention to the Olympics... ha

The time difference between the Eastern Standard Time and Beijing is plus 12 hours. It is on so late because NBC is airing it live and the event starts like 11am Beijing time but its 11PM EST.
