They dont make valid arguments? How do they feel you can acheive peace without first having a conflict to resolve? And lastly why do they keep saying we are sent there against our will? When we signed up and new the risks. If anyone could tell me what they think on this I would appreciate it.

  1. Generally, the supporters of war are civilians.  Intelligent military are usually very opposed to unnecessary  war for very obvious reasons - and if they don't start out that way, they soon learn (I did).

They also tend to learn, faster than civilians do, the real reasons for their being in harm's way - which is why they become not so much opposed to war in principle, as opposed to the corrupt criminals and/or madmen who sent them to war.

Then, don't forget, servicepeople have parents, partners and sometimes children, who are usually very, very opposed to unnecessary war.

That's only the Forces and ex-forces community - but will it do for starters?

  2. They want us stand and let any country around come in and give us communism or sharia.

  3. If war is so patriotic and great then why aren't Bush's daughters on the front lines? How many sons and daughters of Congressmen or Senators are fighting? It's the sons and daughters of the less well off who are used as cannon fodder for the Exxons and Chevrons. Their loyal point men and faithful servants are Bush and Chenney.,

  4. Let the two leaders of the countries duke it out and the best man win. Wars are stupid and a complete waste of innocent lives and money.

  5. "I am sick and tired of war. Its glory is all moonshine.  It is only those who have neither fired a shot nor heard the shrieks and groans of the wounded who cry aloud for blood, for vengeance, for desolation.  War is h**l."

    Sherman.

everyone should be anti-war...most of all the politicians

  6. because friends and family members r going to a pointless war

  7. ~Well I'm Not Fully Anti-War But An Educated Person Can Argue Both Sides. I Believe Anti-War Advocates Feel That The War (I Presume These Are Anti-War Supporters For Iraq) Is A Waste Of Union Money; (As A Student) Money That Could Be Well Spent In The Education System And Other U.S. Government Projects. The Value Of Human Life Is Priceless Compared To Any Wartime Achievements And Solider Or Citizen, Regardless Of Their Knowledge Of The Risks Involved, It Is Still To Be Held With Value. It Is Man-kinds Nature To Live In Peace As Well As It Is His Nature To Create Conflict (War). Anti-War Or Pro-War It Is Human Life That Is Necessary. :)~

  8. As a veteran, I suggest that at bottom we are all anti-war just like we are all anti-fire, but some of us choose to join the military or the fire department for when war or fire happens.

War, like fire, happens.  Pacifists claim that if we just don't show up to fight it, war won't happen ("what if they gave a war, and nobody came?").  What would happen of course is that whoever "gave" the war would win.

I forget now who it was who said "those who beat their swords into plowshares will plow their fields for those who didn't."

  9. Because people don't want their 21 year old going to fight in a war and die in a war that we will never end. The war won't stop! And yes it is noble of them but they might as well sign their death certificate when joining because it is a war that won't stop and we should just mind our own business and let the s**+-its or w/e they are called blow themselves up!!!!!!!!!

  10. The simple fact is that war kills.   There can be no justification in that.   To say there must be war to achieve peace is so myopic in its singularity that it does not merit comment.   I suggest that the anti-war movement is more an anti-killing movement.   In that context, it recognises neither side in conflict.   It reflects a basic principle of humanity.

  11. I agree with you! People want a simple solution; peace, and our troops home. It's much more complicated than that. We're in the Middle East because we are trying to bring peace to a war-torn area and prevent any further terrorist attacks. I admit that war is a terrible thing; there are no winners in war, but perhaps they can prevent longer, future bloodshed. If they have a peacful, effective method, then by all means, run for Senate and tell the world your briliant plan. Until then, respect the brave souls who realize there is no easy solution for peace, and are willing to sacrifice their lives to acheive this peace.

P.S. We can't just go into Iraq and ask nicely for everybody to stop fighting. There are rivalries between groups there that have been in existance longer than the U.S. Some people there are so radical that they imagine no higher glory than dying and bringing down a hundred people of another religion with them. These aren't the kind of people that you can reach a compromise with. But just because we can't reach a solution peacefully doesn't mean we should leave them to their devices. If the U.S. had thought that way in the 1940's, Hitler would had killed millions of more innocent people. Sometimes, we must make the difficult decision and choose the lesser of two evils.

  12. When we were a young country and most of our brethren we're not well educated beyond 6th grade we all marched off to war because someone told us it was the right thing to do and it was "Patriotic".

Since then we have become a nation of educated high school grads or higher and we know the real truths about some of our fore fathers and current leaders and we are less likely to just jump because they say jump.

If we achieve a lasting peace where the peoples of the world can trust us and others to work things out at the bargaining tables instead of reaching for our guns and warheads at the drop of a hat you will understand "Why there are so many anti-war people".
