Why are there 3 holes in plastic lollipop sticks?

cool question people do use it as a whistle and they use to say that on the wrappers to get kids excited lol but now they dont say that its really cool whistle though!!!!lol

Is it not so if a kid swallows it, it won't completely cut off the air passage. Pen tops have holes in them for the same reason.
