The scores of my high school tennis temam were 5-0, 4-1, 3-2, etc. If one player wins a set, is that 1 point for his team?

  1. No.

Each individual match won by your team is worth a point.

High School tennis matches consist of 5 best 2 out of 3 set matches

    1st Singles

    2nd Singles

    3rd Singles

    1st Doubles

    2nd Doubles

Each of those matches count for one point.  This means that at least 3 of your individual matches must win in order for you to win the entire match as a team.

If your first score was 5-0, it means that you won every one of your individual matches, 4-1 means you won 4 of your individual matches and lost one of them....etc

  2. It depends what school you go to. When I played high school tennis a few years back in California we had three singles players and three doubles teams. Each player or doubles team would play three sets, one set per opponent( Everyone would play each other 1 vs 2, 3 vs 1, etc...). There was a total of nine points possible in singles, and nine points possible in doubles. So a team could win 18to 12, 6, to 0, etc... If the TEAM SCORE was tied at 9 to 9 you would count up how many games the team received as the tie breaker. I live in Utah now and they play differently. Each player plays at the #1 2 or 3 spot and plays to out of three sets against that player only.
