Why are there Groups on Yahoo Groups That Dont Show Up in Search?

I am looking for certain groups on yahoo but when I search for them on yahoo groups they don't show up. But when I type the name of the group in to the url the group comes up. I have found this out with a lot of groups. It is like yahoo doesn't show every group on the search engine for them. How can I search for groups with out having to do the trial and error part of typing group names into the url field? Example groups.yahoo.com/group/"fillintheblank"

Here are reasons that some groups do not to show up in a Yahoo Groups Search.  For those groups, you must know the group's url such as you have mentioned in your question.

-Groups in the Adult category do not show up in group searches or in the Groups Directory.

-Groups where the owners have selected not to list their groups in the Groups Directory.

-Groups that are new.  It takes up to a week for them to show up in a groups search and be listed in Groups Directory.

groups are found by key word searches, and a group in any category would want that group to include key words to that category in order to be found. for example, fillintheblank group title does not contain key words to the category it's listed in, and it also contains 1013  to that category.

also, some groups choose not to be listed in the directory.
