Why are there a lot of criticism regarding cosmetics?

Some people think it's just vanity, some people are already adults so have different views on the age makeup should be worn and the type.

Some people know that a lot of cheap make up is tested on animals, and not everyone will buy expensive stuff, so they dislike it for the sake of the animals (Brand name stuff is usually trustable, it's the massive sets of cheap eyeshadow and stuff to look out for)

And some people think it looks fake.
